Birdie's Story
Birdie is a slightly rumpled little lady who has decided that after a long and ridiculous run of bad luck, she is ready for the “sit on the couch and be adored” chapter of her life.

Birdie is estimated at 11 years old, which means she has no interest in unnecessary chaos. She arrived to us as a stray in such rough shape, the kind of shape that makes you wonder “how are you even this sweet after all that?”. And yet here she is, gentle as can be, quietly gaining her life back one cozy nap at a time.

She’s a shy girl at first, but give her a little patience and a little encouragement, and something lovely happens: she chooses you. One day she’s peeking. The next, she’s cautiously approaching. And before long, she’s on the couch beside you accepting head scratches, leaning in for chin rubs, and deciding your lap is exactly where she should be.

Birdie is a world-class couch potato. She’ll sit with you through movies, scrolling, or whatever it is you do in your downtime. When you get up, she might follow. Or she might decide she’s had enough social time and retreat to her “Birdie room” for a solo recharge. It’s a balanced lifestyle.

She has a few charming quirks. She’ll sometimes pretend she’s heading to her food bowl, only to glance back at you and circle back for pets. She enjoys wand toys in a low-impact way. Loud noises like vacuums are deeply unnecessary in her opinion, and she will excuse herself accordingly.

Birdie does come with some extra care needs, and we want to be upfront because the right home will see this for what it is: very manageable, and very worth it.

She has diabetes, which is currently well controlled with a once daily medication called Bexacat, which gets mixed into her dinner. She eats a special diet and will need routine vet monitoring to keep everything on track. Right now, she’s doing well on her medication, and her routine is simple and consistent. She takes her pill like a champ.

She also has a bit of neuropathy in her back legs, so she walks with a slightly wobbly, flat-footed gait. It doesn’t slow her down much, it just gives her a unique little strut. She can get onto the couch, follow you around, and live her life just fine.

What Birdie needs is a calm, predictable home with someone kind, patient, and around enough to keep her on her routine and appreciate her quiet companionship. Just a soft place to land with a kind soul.

DOB: 9/18/14

All cats are altered, microchipped, dewormed and given age appropriate vaccinations.

PLEASE NOTE: We do not have a physical shelter, therefore all our cats reside in foster homes. We do require a completed application prior to setting up a Meet & Greet in a foster home. Complete an application today! https://www.urbancats.org/adopt

Si necesitas ayuda en Español, por favor contáctenos a info@urbancats.org.

If cats are listed, consider them available. Please do not email or call us asking if they are still available. Visit our website www.urbancats.org/process for additional information about our organization, adoption policies and adoption fees.
