Birdie

Oh Birdie! This poor cat was outside during the winter deep freeze with temperatures in the single digits. On one of the sunny days, when the ice was just starting to melt, Birdie tried to reach into the pool (there was a pool cover) to get a drink of water and she fell in! Thank goodness the home owner, called animal control to fish her out. Birdie came into the shelter freezing and shaking like a leaf! Birdie suffered some frostbite to the tip of one of her ears. After lots of TLC and blood work, it was discovered that Birdie has kidney disease and she is blind in one eye. The eye was ruptured at one time in her life. Birdie is very hard of hearing and sometimes doesn't realize how LOUD she meows! Through all of this, she is a favorite cat among staff. <br/><br/>Birdie just needs a loving, understanding, warm home. She is considered hospice, yet she is in good spirits, eating like a horse and she is happy.<br/><br/>The shelter has an appointment only policy. We ask potential adopters to fill out our application, prior to a scheduled meeting.
