Birch's Story

Birch is an introvert cat: he likes to have his own space until he feels comfortable. Once he's ready, he will follow you around and wants to be your shadow. He loves chin scratches, sitting in the window to bird watch, and wrestling with his brother Spruce. For playtime, he loves chasing the ribbon toy.

Birch & Spruce have Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV). They are a bonded pair, brothers, and will need to go to a home with no other cats, or to a home with only FeLV positive cats. Kittens with feline leukemia can live a happy life, but shorter lifespan.

For more information of FeLV kittens and cats, see these resources:

https://heroveterinary.com/blogs/knowledge/felv-positive-cat-life-expectancy?srsltid=AfmBOoqEuDBTovTMA7bbk295fVU95NC_Kgj9hNn68ALAolPvZ8Tu9CP0

https://americanpetsalive.org/uploads/resources/FeLV-FAQ.pdf
If you are interested in adopting an ARPO pet, please visit our website at arporescue.org to learn more about our adoption process and complete our adoption application. Alliance for Responsible Pet Ownership, Inc - ARPO's Adoption Policy
ARPO does not have a shelter or physical location. All pets are in foster care. Potential adopters must fill out the Adoption Application. An phone or e-mail interview and home visit are required and does not guarantee adoption. We use these as a tool to make a match for both the adoptive family and the pet. Because home visits are done by a member of our all volunteer staff, we limit this to a 50 mile radius of Indianapolis. Lastly, before taking your new companion, a contract must be signed, including the provision that the adopter will provide quality food, shelter, and medical care. You may follow us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/adoptarpo/ to find out when and where our next adoption events, fundraisers, success stories, as well as hints and tips in pet care.
