Meet Big Grey
Big Grey came to us over a year ago when his caregivers found him laying by the side of the road. He had been hit by a car and was badly injured. He was rushed to the local vet where he was stabilized. Within days, he was transported to another vet who was skilled in performing an amputation of his back leg. When they were doing the xrays and surgery, they found how badly his pelvis was fractured on that side. They were hopeful that it would heal properly if the weight of the leg were gone. Unfortunately, that was not what happened.
For months, we struggled to help this poor boy heal. We had to do sub-Q fluids to get him hydrated enough as well as routine enemas when he became constipated. After a year, we have gotten him into a pretty good routine with only an occasional worry of constipation. Rather than him having to stay in foster care, we feel that he could do well in a new home with an experienced caregiver who can monitor him closely to keep him on a good routine.
Big Grey has been nothing but a WONDERFUL kitty. Even through the worst of it, he has purred up a storm, wants nothing more than to get as much love, and cuddles as possible. He still surprises us with his agility with only having three legs! His new home would need to be patient, have some medical background or medical experience with previous pets to know what to do for him. They would also need to be forgiving for those times when he has a bout of diarrhea due to too much fiber, etc. Big Grey needs to be on a high quality canned food only diet with pumpkin and other added supplements to keep him regular. This sweet boy is so worth it though. You will not meet a more gentle and loving cat. He is amazing beyond belief!
Big Grey has been neutered, vaccinated, tested for FeLV/FIV (negative), and will be microchipped before going to his new home. His adoption fee is $150+tax
