Big Bill's Story
Meet Big Bill

Big Bill is a 6 year old mega-sized kitty with an even bigger heart. He was transferred to us from a shelter after being found as a stray, bleeding and struggling with urinary crystals. We strongly suspect Bill may have been dumped near the shelter because despite everything he was going through, his coat was in absolutely beautiful condition.

Thankfully, Bill received treatment for his urinary crystals and has been doing amazing ever since. He will need to remain on a urinary diet for life to help prevent future issues, but it’s honestly comparable in cost to many higher quality pet foods and has been very manageable for him.

Bill has also been on a healthy weight loss journey while in our care and has been making wonderful progress. His future family will need to continue supporting that journey for his long-term health and mobility. To help set him up for success, we will send him home with his personalized feeding plan, a scale for regular weigh-ins and a few months worth of his urinary food.

Once Bill settles in, he is one of the sweetest, cuddliest cats you could ever meet. His favourite things include snuggling in bed, hanging out on the sofa and quietly existing near his people like a giant emotional support potato. He’s very easygoing overall and has excellent litter box habits. He also does a fantastic job keeping himself clean despite his larger size.

Bill can be a little unsure around other cats at first, but with time he settles in nicely and coexists well. He also does great with our senior dog.

One thing we’ve learned about Bill is that he seems to have some sensitivity around feet and sudden close movement while he’s lying on the floor. We suspect something may have happened to him in the past because he can become startled and react defensively if someone walks extremely close by him while he’s resting. Because of this, we simply give him a little bit of space when passing by and he does completely fine. He communicates clearly and has never been difficult to manage once you understand his comfort zone.

Honestly, Bill is basically a giant old man trapped in a younger cat’s body. He’s calm, loving, cuddly and incredibly charming in the most grumpy grandpa way possible.

Thanks to our wonderful donors, Bill’s adoption fee has also been fully sponsored in hopes of helping this giant sweetheart find the perfect forever home.
