Betsey's Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Betsey was brought to us with her little baby Bindi. She was found as a stray with her three kittens. The finder found homes for two of the three kittens and waited for us to have room for Mama and baby. Betsey is a kind and gentle young cat. She has allowed us to touch and handle her from the start, never showing any signs of aggressive behavior (even in fear). We have earned her trust with food and a slow approach but she now enjoys affection and will stare with her big bright eyes until you approach to pet her. Betsey was a great Mama, very patient with Bindi (who has since moved in with kittens to learn and grow with those her own age) and Betsey is out with the adult cats.

**Update: Betsey has adjusted wonderfully to shelter life. Bindi was moved into the kitten room where she is able to utilize all her energy and play with friends her own age. Betsey has been exploring the shelter and enjoying her own freedom. She is a very mellow girl, gaining more confidence every day. Betsey is very friendly with all of our volunteers but not equally as excited about all of her housemates. She is okay with quiet, friendly, and mostly female cats but seems to get a bit overwhelmed by some of our "extra friendly" cats (specifically our Shelter Managers that like to really SNIFF all the newbies a bit too much). We think Betsey would be happy as a Queen of the castle cat (only cat) or with an older mellow cat that is not looking for too much of her attention. However, because she is pretty mellow and with a slow introduction another cat friend in the home would probably not be as overstimulating as our shelter. Betsey will rub herself at your feet and sometimes even tries to lick your toes (caution on wearing sandals to your first meeting with her) to show you affection. Her black and white markings are unique and her big eyes make this little lady so special. Betsey should certainly be at the top of your "must meet" list.

**One thing to note, we do believe Betsey is fearful of dogs, especially very energetic or vocal ones. We had a couple dogs inside the shelter recently (just there briefly for our visiting vet to provide vaccines) and Betsey showed signs of fear even after they left. To note, these dogs were VERY energetic so it may just have been them but please consider another cat if you have similar dogs in your family as we are unsure of Betsey's past but from her reaction her "dog experience" may not have been positive. After a couple of hours past, Betsey went back to her normal friendly and loving self so we do believe it was the dogs that caused her reaction.

Complete our online adoption application a www.littleorphans.org to start the process of adding this or any of our kitties to your home. The more complete your application is, determines how quickly we are able to process your application. Please try to give your vets office (give prior authorization to release information to us), landlord, and references a heads up to expect our call. Adoption fees include spay/neuter, up-to-date age-appropriate vaccinations, parasite preventatives, and a microchip.
