We are once again asking for you to give into your cute aggression and adopt this chatty, energetic man!<br/><br/>Bernie first popped up on the campaign trail towards the end of December, a real grassroots movement that found him constantly returning to the same porch. He won over the vote of that caretaker with ease, but he wasn't able to join their party due to there already being too many cats in the home. Despite that, Berbie showed off an easy going and charasmatic personality that can easily cross the aisle to get things done! Active and acrobatic, Bernie would need a home that can provide him with a ton of enrichment to keep him happily occupied. He would likely do well with children of all ages based on his demeanor, but he can get a little spooked by quick movements and loud noises, so he may need more time to get fully comfortable if the home has really young kids.<br/><br/>Bernie also tested positive for FeLV, so he would need to be the only cat in the home at this time. Since he seems super social and friendly he might like having more friends, in which case he just needs to be tested at least one more time and pending those results (if he tests positive again) he could live in a home with other FeLV positive kitties! PAWS should be contacted as soon as signs of URI, inappetence, weight loss, fever, etc. are noticed. PAWS will provide basic care related to FeLV illness when able and can help with the cost of care if needed. PAWS will not cover the cost of yearly vaccines, dental issues, broken bones, skin issues or other medical needs unrelated to FeLV, nor will heroic measures such as hospitalization or emergency care be offered.<br/><br/>By adopting this cat, you agree to keep it indoors, and understand that it should only live with other FeLV positive cats.<br/><br/>Day to day needs: normal daily cat care, feeding a healthy diet, annual or twice-annual vet checkups, and reducing environmental stress as much as possible<br/><br/>What to look for: sneezing, nasal discharge, lethargy, lack of appetite, fever, or any abnormal behavior that could indicate illness (litter box accidents, hiding more than usual, etc)<br/><br/>Long term needs: contact PAWS at the first sign of illness, provided treatment as needed, monitor quality of life, eventual humane euthanasia.
