Bernice's Story

Meet Bernice, a gentle little soul with a heart that’s finally ready to settle.

Bernice has been through more change in a few short weeks than most cats experience in a lifetime. From a crowded hoarding situation to multiple foster homes and even surgery, she has handled it all with quiet resilience. Now she is ready for the one thing she has never truly had, a place to call her own.

At first, Bernice may hang back and take everything in. New spaces and unfamiliar faces can make her a bit shy, and she will need a few days to feel safe. With a little patience and maybe a Churu treat, you will start to see her blossom. Once she trusts you, Bernice becomes incredibly sweet and will gently seek out affection. Her signature move is a tiny, adorable hop when you reach out to pet her forehead.

She is a quiet companion who prefers calm, cozy moments. You will often find her lounging in a soft spot, purring quietly, or enjoying a snack nearby. She is definitely food motivated and likes having company during meals. While she is mostly low energy, she still enjoys a bit of playtime with spring toys or catnip every now and then.

Bernice would do best in a calm, consistent home with someone who understands that trust takes time. She gets along well with other cats and would not mind a feline friend, but she could also be perfectly happy as your one and only. She should do well with gentle, respectful children, but would prefer a quieter environment where she can truly relax.

After everything she has been through, Bernice is not asking for much. Just patience, kindness, and a soft place to land. In return, she will give you her quiet trust, her sweet little hops, and a love that grows deeper every day.
