BENNY's Story

MEET BENNY! Benny is a kitten who came to us with his littermates when they were only 5 weeks old and found outdoors as strays in Dorchester. Benny and siblings have been growing and learning in one of our dedicated foster homes, and are finally ready to find their adoptive homes. Their foster caregiver describes Benny as social and loves to take naps on your lap. He would do well with another social cat! While in the shelter, Benny was diagnosed with pyothorax, which is the accumulation of purulent fluid (pus) within the pleural space surrounding the lungs. Pyothorax is a serious and potentially life-threatening condition that can impair normal breathing and oxygen exchange. After weeks of treatment and monitoring, Benny's road to recovery is looking bright! It will be important for his future family to keep a good relationship with a vet to monitor Benny's health moving forward to ensure this resloves. Staff will be ready to educate adopters on what this process may look like and things to look out for as he continues to heal. If you have room in your heart for this adorable little miracle of a kitten, please come meet Benny! Benny is currently up to date on all vaccinations, has been spayed/neutered, microchipped and seen by our vet team. For more information on Benny or any other animal currently residing at the Animal Rescue League of Boston, please call us at 617-426-9170. We welcome adopters from NH, RI, CT, and NY. However, we will be unable to facilitate same day adoptions due to state regulated paperwork requirements.
