BENNINGTON's Story

Bennington & Lady – Senior Cats Seeking Loving Homes Bennington and Lady are 8-year-old littermates who were displaced due to unforeseen circumstances when their owner had to leave them behind while fleeing a difficult and unsafe situation. They were later recovered after it was discovered they had experienced neglect and poor treatment. When rescued, both were fearful, matted, and extremely stressed, but have slowly begun to show their true personalities again in safe care. They are not a bonded pair, but they previously lived together in the same home. Both are fixed and front declawed. Lady is a strong, independent torbie with a dominant personality. When stressed or in unfamiliar environments, she may react defensively. However, once she feels secure and settled, she enjoys attention, will seek affection on her terms, and purrs when comfortable. She does best in a calm, predictable home where she is given time and space to adjust. Bennington is a large, affectionate “dramatic snuggle bug.” Once he feels safe, he is very people-oriented and actively seeks attention—reaching for pets, vocalizing for interaction, and following his person from room to room. He loves being involved in daily activities and is happiest when he has consistent companionship. Both cats showed significant stress responses upon intake, but improved greatly after time in foster care to decompress. Lady was the first to begin opening up, with Bennington following with patience and reassurance. They would each do best in calm, adult-only homes with no dogs, where they can continue building confidence and trust at their own pace. While they share a history, they can be adopted separately depending on the right fit. Current weights: Bennington – 18 lbs Lady – 13 lbs These two are resilient cats who are learning that stability, safety, and kindness are finally part of their future.
