Belle's Story

Hi, my name is Belle! I'm a RED pawprint, which means I need an experienced home that meets some specific criteria. Here is what would work best for me in my new home:

-Personality: Belle is reserved and skittish. After some time, she does become affectionate and loving.
-Can Live with Cats: No thanks! Belle fought with cats in her previous home.
-Can Live with Dogs: Cat savvy dogs that are quiet and don't chase, may be okay for Belle. Belle lived with a small dog in her previous home that she tolerated.
-Can Live with Kids: Nope! Belle needs a low foot traffic, quiet, and adult only home
-Needs Indoor Only Home: Indoor with outdoor supervision okay!
-History of Litter Box Issues: Yes, when Belle is scared she has urinated in her bedding. When she is comfortable in her environment she goes in the litter box.
-Energy Level: Moderate
-Bite History: none
-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Yes, a spay and MC

Additional Information:
Belle seems to be a skittish and shy cat. Her first week at the shelter she hid and hissed at staff. Once she was comfortable, she started soliciting for attention at the front of her kennel and leaning into her pets. Belle will need to go to a home that is cat-experienced with under socialized cats and have the patience to let Belle slowly come out of her shell. She will need an adult only home that is quiet and low foot traffic. Belle will take awhile to decompress at her new home, but is a very loving cat.

If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website (www.whatcomhumane.org/adopt) or in person at our facility. We recommend calling into the shelter after your application has been submitted so our front desk can give you next steps on our adoption process.
