Bear's Story

**This animal is behind the scenes and cannot be viewed during animal viewing hours.**

Say hello to Bear!

Bear came to us as a stray, and as a senior cat with a very shy nature, he is now looking for a calm and understanding forever home where he can finally feel safe and take things at his own pace.

Bear is a quiet, sensitive boy who prefers to observe the world from the comfort of a hiding spot. You'll often find him tucked into soft blankets or nestled somewhere cozy where he can watch what's going on around him. He's not the type to rush into interaction, instead, Bear prefers slow, gentle introductions and people who understand that trust takes time.

While he may not love the spotlight, Bear is beginning to show signs of comfort as he settles in. With patience, he may allow you to sit nearby and enjoy your presence, and over time he may become more confident in exploring his surroundings more openly. For now, he is happiest when he is given space, routines, and the freedom to come forward when he feels ready.

Bear isn't currently driven by toys or high-energy play, instead, his comfort comes from security and quiet companionship. A peaceful home where he can relax without pressure will be the key to helping him continue to build confidence.

While Bear has been in our care, he has been supported with calming aids (Gabapentin and Zylkene) to help reduce stress while adjusting to new environments and handling. These supports have helped him feel more comfortable and continue to build confidence and while he may not need this medication and nutraceutical supplement long-term once he is settled in a forever home, any changes should only be made in consultation with a vet.

Bear may also benefit from the company of another calm, quiet, and respectful cat who can help him feel more at ease and show him the rhythm of home life.

If your home has room for a gentle senior who needs time, patience, and kindness to blossom at his own pace, Bear might just be the quiet companion you've been waiting for.
