WORKING CATS AVAILABLE! <br/><br/>Meet Babybel, Free Spirit, and Salon—three independent ladies looking for a very specific kind of forever home.<br/><br/>These girls have made it clear that the free-roaming indoor cat life just is not for them. While many of our cats blossom indoors, these three prefer to keep their distance, are not interested in being handled, and would be much happier putting their natural instincts to good use in a safe barn home.<br/><br/>We would love to see them stay together.<br/><br/>Although Cheatham County Animal Control adopts cats to indoor homes only, our Working Cat/Barn Cat Program occasionally makes an exception for carefully selected cats when we truly believe it is in their best interest. Babybel, Free Spirit, and Salon are exactly those cats.<br/><br/>Their ideal home would include:<br/><br/> A safe barn, stable, workshop, or outbuilding with shelter from the weather.<br/> A secure acclimation space—such as an XL dog crate, stall, tack room, or <br/><br/>enclosed room within a barn or similar structure—where they can safely stay for two weeks.<br/><br/> Daily food, fresh water, and routine care while they learn the sights, smells, and sounds of their new home and begin to recognize you as the source of good things. This acclimation period is essential so they don't leave in fear once they are given the freedom to roam.<br/><br/>We are very selective about our working cat placements because outdoor life carries more risk than indoor living. We want these girls to have the safest possible environment where they will be valued, protected, and cared for—not simply expected to catch mice.<br/><br/>Will they help with rodent control? We think they will be fantastic at it.
