Bacon's Story

Meet Bacon – 6 Years Old | FIV+ | Ready for His Forever Home

Bacon is a 6-year-old tom cat who has survived a very hard life. He came from a truly awful situation and has never known what it feels like to be someone’s spoiled, pampered house cat. And he so badly deserves that.

Despite everything he’s been through, Bacon is gentle, resilient, and so ready for a warm, loving home to spend the rest of his days in. He’s a little beat up from life on the streets, but his wounds are healing beautifully. With a healthy diet, safety, and love, his coat and skin will continue to improve — and he’s only going to look and feel better from here.

He’s used to other cats and dogs and does well around them.

About His FIV+ Status

Bacon is FIV+. Feline Immunodeficiency Virus is a cat-only virus that is primarily transmitted through deep bite wounds. It is not spread casually — not through sharing food bowls, water, litter boxes, grooming, or normal day-to-day contact.

Many rescues and shelters no longer routinely test for FIV because cats who are friendly and live peacefully together rarely transmit it. In fact, none of the other cats from the colony Bacon lived with have tested positive, which shows that other cats can safely live alongside him.

FIV+ cats can live long, happy, normal lives with good nutrition, routine vet care, and an indoor home. They deserve love just like any other cat.

⸻

Bacon is currently being fostered in Everett and is ready for his forever home now. If you’d like to come meet him, we’d love to introduce you.

Please send an email to Saranw1103@gmail.com with some information about yourself and the kind of home you can offer him.

This sweet boy has survived so much. Now it’s his turn to be cherished. 🧡
