Atticus's Story

Hi! I am Atticus. I am a darker orange, domestic shorthaired kitty. I have an old, soulful, wise personality that is calm, collected and observant. I came to the shelter with my brother, Saske. Saske has found a home however I am still waiting. My shelter family does not understand why as I am very sweet and love to be pet.

I am neutered, and I am up to date on my vaccines - distemper and rabies. I have been FIV/Feline Leukemia tested and I am negative for both. I receive routine flea and tick preventatives, monthly as well as some well deserved pampering periodically: brushing, nail trims & ear cleaning.

My ideal home includes a quieter and calmer home. I tolerate other kitties without issue. I tend to hang out by myself or with 1-2 other cats. I do not know how I would do with dogs. I would do ok in a home with kids who understand boundaries. I am shy at first and may run away. I am just scared but I do come out of my shell eventually.

I need a family that is caring, compassionate and loving. I want a family that is patient, willing to give me what I need: a warm bed, plenty of good food & clean water, and good ol' pets and love. Once I warm up, I enjoy being pet and loved on. I also like to be in front of a window catching warm sun rays.

My shelter family works tirelessly to ensure I and my friends go to the right family. If you feel that person is you, I'd love to meet you. Please submit an application if you'd like to be considered becoming my family!

Duke Memorial~Redwood Area Animal Shelter's Adoption Policy
We have simplified our animal adoption process to ensure that the process is not only easy on you but our animals. It is important that we ensure that is a great fit for not just you but also for the animal. 1. Meet & Greet. Come and meet our animals. We have so many wonderful and loving animals. We encourage you to find someone who complements your lifestyle and you/your family. 2. Fill out an application. Check out our website for our digital application: https://www.redwoodareaanimalshelter.org/ OR you can fill out an application in person during our open hours of operation (Monday - Friday, 1p - 5p). 3. Approval: we will look over your application and may ask questions if need be to ensure a great fit! We follow a 'same day' adoption process - no need for any additional checks, visits or etc. Please keep in mind: it is always our top priority to place animals in great homes. We reserve the right to decline an applicant if we feel this is not a great fit. 4. Pay Adoption Fee: adoption fees are based on the age, breed and medical care received by the animal. Adoption fees may change without notice however the applicant will be notified if there is a change in the fee. We accept the following payment methods: cash, check and all major debit/credit cards. Credit/Debit card transactions are subject to a 4% credit card processing fee. Please note: ALL ADOPTION FEES are final. There are no refunds. 5. Go Home: if you plan to do a 'same day' adoption, adopters are required to bring a collar & leash (for dog adoptions) and/or cat carrier for (cat adoptions). 6. Live happily ever after: this is the end goal, of course! All adoptions are final - meaning please be certain that you have properly prepared your home, your family and your lifestyle to add in another pet. Rescue animals often need time to decompress and adjust to a new surrounding - please be patient and have grace.
