Athena and Apollo's Story

This is a courtesy post for a family looking to rehome their cats Athena and Apollo due to a change in living situation. Here is their bio, from their family:

They are a brother and sister ginger pair who have been great pals their whole lives. They are 8-9 years old and sociable friendly and cuddly with all interested folks. They love to window watch critters outside and have been indoor cats their whole life. Athena and Apollo eat twice a day, together. They are good with their litter boxes and have had some experience meeting dogs and kids without any issues. Both kitties have excellent behavior at the vet.

Apollo (the boy) is pictured cuddling with his sister and relaxing next to a desk, in front of a window. He does have diabetes but is super stable on his insulin meds and glucose food. He takes shots on the 12 hr marks but is very amenable and never angry about it. He remains stable with this approach is happy and friendly to all.

Athena (the girl) is pictured cuddling with her brother, and sitting in front of a set of double doors. She has great health and looks forward to a long life with her new family!

Athena and Apollo's original family will provide pet beds, blankets, remaining medical supplies and would be happy to get prescriptions transferred and supplies covered through the transfer time...even any final appointments if desired. Their cat sitter who helps who can also provide details as needed. Visits are welcome and we can transport...although of course they do not love to travel. They are originally from California where they were born but have been in Michigan for 7 years.

Athena and Apollo are currently being fostered by their original owners while they look for a new home. Their original owners are happy to arrange meet-and-greets. If you are interested in meeting them, please send a message here, or email adopt@ahsem.org and we will connect you.

Animal House of South East Michigan, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
When adopting a cat from AHSEM the adoption includes spay or neuter surgery, age appropriate core vaccines, microchipping, combo tested (for FIV/FeLV), and basic wellness care including deworming and flea treatment. Our adoption fees are as follows: $155 for a single cat or kitten $195 for a pair of cats or kittens Please note that we do not do same day adoptions and all adoption fees are non-refundable. AHSEM treats every adoption as "foster to adopt" This means that the first two weeks in which you have the cat is the "foster period." We do our best to ensure the right match for all involved and want to give the cat(s) time to decompress and adapt to their new environment. However, we realize sometimes things don't work out as expected. Therefore, during that two-week period, if something doesn’t work out you can bring the cat back. We are also flexible if more time is needed to determine if its the right fit. We will always take our cats back even after the "foster to adopt" period. We would hate to see them end up at a kill shelter, abandoned, or any other unsafe situation.
