Aspen<br/>Arrival: 1/26/26<br/>Estimated DOB: 4/2/2023<br/><br/>Aspen arrived at the shelter in the dead of winter after clearly enduring more than his fair share of hardship. We suspect he may be the father of our amazing Mika—they look almost identical, except Aspen has striking bronze-colored eyes.<br/><br/>When he came to us, Aspen was quite the hot mess: intact, suffering from ringworm, two types of internal parasites, ulcerative lesions on his hocks from focal frostbite, and paw pads hardened from the brutally cold weather. Despite everything he had been through, he kept pushing forward. About a month after arrival, he developed acute, painful stomatitis (as did Mika), which ultimately required the extraction of all his teeth except his canines.<br/><br/>Through it all, Aspen has proven just how resilient he is.<br/><br/>Today, Aspen is doing great at the shelter. He gets along well with other cats and has a gentle, easygoing nature. He can be a little shy about asking for human attention—our free-roaming facility has plenty of scene-stealers—but when someone takes a moment to offer him affection, he absolutely soaks it up and enjoys every minute.<br/><br/>Aspen may do well in a home with kids to help keep him engaged and active. His quiet sweetness and remarkable resilience have made him a definite favorite of mine.<br/><br/>If you’re looking for a cat who embodies strength, gentleness, and the spirit of winter survival, Aspen just might be your guy.
