Asiago's Story
***FOSTER OR ADOPTER NEEDED URGENTLY***

When Asiago was a kitten, someone decided they didn't want him anymore.
Maybe he meowed too much. Maybe he scratched the furniture. Maybe he was just a normal, playful kitten who became inconvenient. Whatever the reason, someone threw him away.

His longtime feeder remembers watching him grow up outside. She watched the sweet little kitten slowly disappear behind a shell he had no choice but to build. Every day he learned another lesson about surviving instead of living. Every day he became a little less trusting, a little more guarded, because that's what the streets demanded of him. He survived in a part of the city where even people struggle to get by. Then the only place he knew, the place where he ate, slept, and felt some sense of familiarity, was torn apart by construction. For the second time in his short life, Asiago lost everything.

His feeder reached out because she couldn't bear the thought of him being forgotten. She knew he didn't have to be a tiny kitten to deserve saving. His life still mattered. Asiago was friendly with her. He let her pet him. The plan was for her to bring him home, to slowly help him remember that he didn't always have to be so afraid. Then life changed and she could no longer take him. Another promise that couldn't be kept. His outdoor home is gone. There is nowhere safe to return him. So instead, he has spent the last month sitting in a cage, watching kitten after kitten leave for their forever homes. Kittens that once looked just like him. Nobody walks past them without smiling. Nobody wonders if they're worth the effort. But Asiago grew up and somewhere along the way, people stopped seeing the kitten still inside him.

Asiago doesn't need someone who expects him to be perfect or give more than he can. He needs someone who understands that trust isn't given. Trust is earned. Someone willing to let us bring a large crate and a backscratcher. Someone patient enough to celebrate the smallest victories. They are excited about the first curious look and the first slow blinks. The first time Asiago realizes your hand isn't there to hurt him. Because one day, there will be a first purr. A first head bump. A first time, he curls up beside someone instead of sleeping alone. Those moments will mean more because of everything he has survived to get there.

You don't need years of experience to help Asiago. You just need compassion, patience, and the willingness to believe in a cat that the world has overlooked. We can help with the rest. He will come with a crate and a back scratcher and our guidance and support.

Please share his story. Ask your friends. Ask your neighbors. Ask your coworkers. Ask the person who's always had a soft spot for the underdogs, the ones everyone else passes by. Somewhere, there is a person who is meant for Asiago. He has spent his whole life being discarded, displaced, and forgotten. Please don't let the rest of his story be the same.

If you're interested in fostering or adopting Asiago, please complete our application here: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/CCRN/Cat
