Anise's Story
Do you like puzzles? If you're up for a challenge, you may be interested in Anise.

Anise came to Trash Cat Rescue from an outdoor colony, very thin and small. She was so tiny that we thought she was a kitten at first, until the vet noted that she already had her adult teeth!

Anise was terrified to be indoors at first, but we didn't want to put her back outside given her condition - she simply wasn't thriving and we feared she wouldn't make it out there!

It took a long time to build her trust (and lots of treats/gentle pets with a backscratcher), but one day Anise decided to head bump the backscratcher, then allow pets while eating... and the rest is history. She is still suspicious by nature and still considers being naughty sometimes (aka giving you a nip or swat while you are petting her), but she has truly come such a long way!

Anise enjoys other cats and is usually one of the first cats out and about in the foster room to greet her foster family, especially at mealtimes. She is curious and likes to be involved. She can often be found rubbing up against whatever object is nearby (but usually just out of reach). If something makes her uncomfortable, she will retreat back to her safe space in the cat tree. She would do best with an adopter who can read her body language and give her space when she needs it. She tolerates petting and handling for short periods of time if she trusts you, but she is still getting acclimated to longer attention sessions.

Anise would likely do best in an adult-only home, where there is at least one other friendly cat to help show her the ropes.

Anise is estimated to be about a year old. She has been spayed, dewormed, flea treated, microchipped, vaccinated, and has tested FIV/FeLV-. Are you looking for a project for the winter... with lots of personality? Consider Anise!
