Anchor's Story

My name's Anchor! I'm a 2-year-old girl who came to the shelter as a pregnant stray. I've been through quite a journey, and now that my babies are grown and I'm doing well, I'm ready to find a quiet place where I can finally feel safe and call someone my own.

I'll be honest-new people are scary. I'm a shy, nervous girl, and it takes me some time to decide that you're okay. But once I get to know you, you'll discover one of my favorite things: head rubs! Our resident cat lady has earned my trust through daily visits, and she knows exactly how to bring out my sweet side. If you come visit me a few times, maybe I can show you how it's done, too!

I do well with other cats, and having a confident feline friend may actually help me come out of my shell a little faster. I think I'd do best with a calm home and people who understand that trust takes time. Younger kiddos will probably be too much for me, but older kids who can respect my boundaries and give me patience could be a good fit. As for dogs, I'm most likely going to pass on the whole roommate situation.

And if you're wondering, "What if I'm not sure she's the right fit?"-we can even start with a foster-to-adopt and give me the chance to show you who I am in a home environment. I may need a little time to become your confident girl, but underneath my shyness is a sweet kitty who just wants to feel safe, loved, and understood. Maybe you could be the person who helps me discover just how wonderful life can be.

I'm spayed, microchipped, and up to date on my vaccines, and I'm ready for my fresh start. All I need is someone willing to give a shy girl a chance.

Animal Care Society Inc's Adoption Policy
Visit our web site at http://www.animalcaresociety.org/ Why Adopt from ACS? One of the best things about life is that it’s full of second chances! When people adopt a new family member from a shelter they are giving a pet a second chance in life! Many folks go to a breeder for a specific type of pet but those same animals can be found at the Animal Care Society! And if there isn’t such an animal at our shelter, ACS staffers are happy to refer interested parties to the RIGHT breed rescue group! The pets available at the Animal Care Society are special. Careful selection, constant socialization, diligent loving daily care and even hand raised kittens and puppies make our candidates for adoption a premium in the shelter world. While we are still a shelter, we make every effort to make a cat or dog feel at home here! It goes a long way in deferring some of the kennel fatigue experienced by shelter animals.
