Allie Whoop's Story

Allie Whoop came into foster care through Licking County TNR at just 5 weeks old as an orphan along with her brother, Curious George. Her brother was adopted fairly quickly; however, Allie has not been as lucky. She was a hit at multiple adoption events through the summer and yet she has not received a single adoption application. She's now 9 months old and she's grown up in a foster home. She's spayed, FIV/FELV negative and up to date on core vaccines.

Unfortunately, Allie developed ocular FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis) back in October. She was treated through Medvet and just recently completed the 84 day treatment to become an FIP survivor. What she needs now is a home of her own. *FIP is not contagious to humans or other animals, it is a mutation of the Feline Coronavirus (not related to Human COVID) that happens to a small number of cats exposed to Feline Coronavirus. As a survivor of FIP, she simply needs to be monitored for relapse. Most cats recover from FIP and go on to live healthy, normal lives; a small number of cats can relapse although the causes are not well understood. Recommendations are to minimize stress, minimize vaccinations and maintain yearly checkups with a vet who is aware of her medical history. She does not require any routine medications or special diet.

Allie is a floofy diva. She does love being brushed with a slicker brush. What she doesn't love is other animals. She's very, very, very slow to warm up to them and tends to play mostly by herself although she has a foster brother (also available for adoption) that she'll play with and nap with (not bonded so she can go by herself). She is extremely affectionate--in fact she needs to be the absolute center of your attention. She'll insert herself between any other animal or screen (phone, tablet) that you're looking at so you have to pay total attention to her. We feel like she needs a home with few other animals or even a home where she's the only furbaby so she gets all the loving. She did well with calm kids holding her at adoption events, so she would do fine with kids. She's never been exposed to dogs, so unsure how she'd feel about them.

She's in foster care in Licking County, Ohio (just east of Columbus, Ohio). Her adoption fee is $50 and an adoption application is available by emailing lickingcountytnr@gmail.com.

Licking County TNR, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
Any potential adopter can request an adoption application by emailing lickingcountytnr@gmail.com and returning the application to that email address. They can also download a google doc version of the adoption application from the website link provided. We run a basic background check and our volunteer adoption coordinator schedules a phone interview to review the information provided and what they’re looking for in a cat or to discuss the specific foster they’re interested in adopting. Our priority is to place our fosters in a stable home environment that best fits their needs to the extent possible. Our fosters are all homeless at intake and we try to find them living situations where they are not likely to ever experience homelessness again. Once the background check and phone interview are successfully completed, we arrange a meet-and-greet at either an adoption event or one of our foster homes. There is no fee to apply and no obligation to adopt until they have had the opportunity to meet the prospective foster and decide if its a good fit for their home/circumstances. Adoption fees
