Alice's Story
WE ARE NOT A SHELTER. WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE: To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in.

Apply to adopt with our online cat application: https://fs17.formsite.com/waverlypetrescue/form4/index.html

Please go to our web-site to learn more about Waverly Pet Rescue: www.waverlypetrescue.com

Alice was a Waverly stray we took in back in November 2023. We planned to fully vet her and place onto a nice farm along with 5 other cats we took in from the same colony at the same time. But Alice had severe upper respiratory issues. If they tried to spay her, she would not have been able to breathe and survive it. She stayed at the vet for 2 months trying to get better. She was contagious to other cats so we finally placed her in a dog only foster home and she thrived there. Thank you to that foster home for helping Alice get better! Once she got better, she went back to the vet for her spay and now is living in a cat foster home. She is up to date on shots, spayed, and tested FeLV / FIV negative.

Alice is about 1-1/2 years old as of June 2025. Life on the streets was hard on her and she would not have survived the winter. Only with medication and an inside home did she get better. We decided to not put her on a farm since she is still a kitten and now used to living in a home. She is also not as feral as the 4 adult cats were they she was living with. Alice had human contact since birth with an elderly man that was feeding the colony. She is still a bit shy but coming out of her shell even more each day. Alice is a good eater. She will let you pet her and enjoys it. She does well with the other cats in her foster home. She also did well with the dogs when she was in the dog foster home.

Alice would love someone willing to set her up in a room alone to start off. And then giving her time and love to settle in. This could take days or weeks or even more. A true cat lover of the shy ones would be perfect!

Alice has a sister named Frannie listed on here too if anyone would like to adopt 2 kittens. They are friendly to each other but not particularly bonded so would be absolutely ok in 2 good homes instead of getting adopted together.

11/3/24 UPDATE: Alice went to a new foster home about 2 weeks ago. She settled in right away! This is great news because is shows she has come out of her shell. She is able to trust and bond with cat loving humans and will do great once she gets adopted into a forever home! Foster home's dad and sister just stopped by to meet Frannie and Alice. And I am happy to say Alice was interactive and sweet right away! Please give Alice a chance and apply to adopt her today!

12/1/24 UPDATE: Have you ever met a cat who grunts, no. Well, say hello to Alice. She has many other attributes but the one you might notice first is her random grunts. Alice has really come out of her shell while she may not love being picked up; she does love a warm lap to cuddle into. Alice is a sweet girl who has become a novice bird watcher and an explorer of cat tunnels. She is content with being in your presence and watching all the commotion which her sister causes plenty of. My favorite moment with Alice is in the morning when she stretches out of her bed and makes her way to me. She looks at me with kind eyes and sniffs my face softly and then accepts a little kiss on her nose. Alice is a unique and sweet soul and would bring so much love to her forever family.

8/5/25 UPDATE: Meet Alice, a gentle soul with a heart full of love and a calm presence that brings instant peace to any room. This relaxed, chill kitty loves to lounge in sunny spots, curl up next to you on the couch, and spend hours bird-watching from the window with quiet curiosity. Affectionate without being demanding, Alice offers soft nose sniffs with her velvet nose and purrs to show her love, and her kind, easygoing nature makes her the perfect companion for anyone looking for a loyal, low-key friend. If you're looking for a sweet, mellow cat to share your days with, Alice might just be your perfect match. If you’re ready to open your heart to a sweet, mellow cat who truly deserves her happily ever after, Alice might be the one you’ve been waiting for.

Alice's adoption fee is $95.00.

WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We only adopt to indoor homes. To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. We do background checks on all applicants. If you have assault, domestic abuse, or drug charges please do not apply. If you have questions, please send an email to waverlypetrescue@mchsi.com

All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters.
Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $250 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office.
