Akari (& Brave)'s Story

Meet Akari!

Akari is a sweet and affectionate little guy who loves to be close. He’s a true lap cat; he enjoys curling up on your lap and soaking up scratches. He’s adventurous and curious, though he feels safest when he’s with the person he trusts most. Akari purrs happily when you pet him and has a gentle, loving nature. His favorite games are chasing little balls, toy mice, and running after the laser.

Something special about Akari is that he loves to snuggle and sleep with other cats, especially the male cat in his foster home, who will surely miss him! He has also become comfortable with visitors and now enjoys being social, receiving pets from new people, even if he still prefers to be held only by his foster mom. With his sweet temperament and love of companionship, Akari would make a wonderful addition to a loving home.

He is a bonded pair with his brother, Brave. Akari and Brave were found together as tiny kittens in a box near Humboldt Park. Their mother was nowhere to be found, so their foster family stepped in to give them the love and care they needed. Today, they’re thriving, social, playful, and ready for forever homes. Both are comfortable with new people, playful with other cats, and sure to bring lots of joy, fun, and affection into their new families’ lives.

Akari and Brave love playing together and also enjoy spending time with the other cats in their foster home. They both purr when petted and have warmed up beautifully to new people. Since they’ve grown up side by side, they share a strong connection and are happiest when they’re together. Akari and Brave are looking for a forever home where they can stay as a pair, bringing double the love, double the purrs, and double the joy.

If you would like to learn more about Akari and Brave, and arrange to meet them, please email info@chicagocatrescue.org for the quickest reply, or call 773/203-0215. No texts, please.

CCR adopts to forever homes in Chicago or the very near suburbs that are within 10 miles of our respective Chicago foster families. Most of our foster families reside on the north side of the city. We love our cats and we pledge support for the rest of their lives, which is why our location limits are in place. We appreciate your understanding. If you are outside of these limits, please check petfinder.com, which allows searching by zip code, for cats closer to your home.

At Chicago Cat Rescue, we are dedicated to both the physical and emotional well-being of the cats and kittens in our care. For this reason, unless expressly stated, we do not place cats or kittens in homes where they will be the only cat. In our experience, most cats love the company of other cats, and can become quite lonely when living alone.

Kittens will only be placed in pairs, or to join another kitten or young cat in your home.

Chicago Cat Rescue is an entirely foster based organization. Our ability to help more cats in need is dependent on our availability of foster homes. If you think you could provide a loving foster situation for a cat in need, or would like to learn more about our foster program, please email us, foster@chicagocatrescue.org. Thank you!
