Abigail's Story

Abigail came to the rescue on December 5 2024 from a small town in Southern Alberta. I went out there to trap a set of other kittens that a local had called about, and went to the wrong house and that is where we met Abigail, and her 3 kittens. The homeowner had been feeding Abigail for some time, and then one day she showed up with kittens. She became worried about the kittens as the cold was coming, so I let her know that after we trapped the other litter of kittens, I would come back out to catch Mama and the babies. This family was harder to trap and it was getting colder. We decided to leave the trap at the home and asked the homeowner to watch the trap and let me know when I get any of them. The first one I got was Mama Cat who shortly after intake, I named Abigail. She is extremely shy, but the sweetest cat who was obviously abandoned at one point which would cause her to be fearful of humans. She was recently spayed, and once she feels more comfortable, she will go over to the Catty Shack where she can become more familiar with cohabitating with other cats as currently, she is isolated in a room that has a very limited number of cats.

The Cat's Sass Rescue's Adoption Policy
We begin by informing possible adopters to head to our website to see the cats that are available for adoption. If any catch tehir eye, they fill out an adoption application, which lets us know what cat or cats they are interested in, and tells us all about their household (is it busy or quiet, do they have young kids,, other cats or dogs, etc). Once we determine they would be a good match (not al cats are a good fit for all households and we want the best fit for our cats), we arrange a meet and greet at our Catty Shack (a barn building renovated into a temporary housing facility for up to 20 cats, but it is not open to the public, it is on private land). If they seem to get along at the meet and greet, we will do a trial adoption, and after 7-10 days we will reach out and chat about how things are going, any concerns they have, or if they are happy. If they are happy and want to adopt, we will finalize the adoption process and they will sign an adoption contract and pay the adoption fee.
