Skippy's Story

Skippy is a delightful lovebird with a unique story and an unforgettable personality. This special little bird earned his name because of the way he gets around. Some of his toes appear to be fused together, giving him an adorable skipping motion as he moves around his cage. Watching Skippy hop from perch to perch is sure to brighten anyone's day!

While Skippy's feet make him a little different, they certainly don't hold him back. He's curious, active, and enjoys exploring his environment. His resilience and cheerful attitude are a wonderful reminder that our differences make us special.

Like all lovebirds, Skippy is an intelligent and social companion who benefits from daily interaction, enrichment, and mental stimulation. He enjoys having a variety of safe toys, perches of different sizes and textures, and opportunities to stay active. Lovebirds thrive on routine and companionship, making them wonderful pets for adopters who can dedicate time to their care.

Skippy's sex is currently unknown, but what we do know is that he is looking for a loving home that will appreciate him for the unique and charming bird he is. Potential adopters should be prepared to provide:

A spacious cage with plenty of room to climb, play, and move about comfortably.
A balanced diet consisting of high-quality pellets, fresh vegetables, leafy greens, and occasional fruits.
Fresh water daily.
Regular out-of-cage time and enrichment opportunities.
Annual veterinary care with an avian veterinarian.
Lots of patience, kindness, and positive interaction.

Skippy has adapted wonderfully to his special feet and may benefit from thoughtful cage set-up with easily accessible perches and toys. His fused toes do not define him; they're simply part of what makes him one of a kind.

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Ready to meet Skippy?

To apply directly, email animal.shelter@vancouver.ca today!
Please note "Bird application request" in the subject line.

Alternatively, you can send an enquiry through this website, and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

animal.shelter@vancouver.ca
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

For more information on our adoption process, go to vancouver.ca/adopt
