Scoops's Story

Meet Scoops, our handsome little Goffins cockatoo and resident head scratch enthusiast. Like most cockatoos, he's got a feisty personality and isn't afraid to show it, although he is gentle with hands and very clear with his body language if he does not like something. Scoops came to us as a transfer from another rescue facility when his owner went into a retirement home, so we don't know much about his past. His foster has been taking it slow with him and learning his likes/dislikes from scratch...so anyone who is interested in him will need to have a similar approach. Scoops is friendly and likes to hang out with his people. He is curious about toys and not fearful when it comes to new things. He will happily come out of his cage on his own and although he isn't so sure about stepping up onto hands just yet, he loves head scratches and shows all of the signs of wanting to interact. While Scoops is smaller than his larger cockatoo counterparts, he can still be quite loud so any applicants should take this into consideration. He would not be an appropriate option for those with shared walls. Adoption fee: $400
