Sapphire & Fluffers's Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hatch Date: 2021
Fluffers and Sapphire are a pair of 6 year old bonded Male and Female cockatiels that came into the rescue with a third cockatiel.
They were all kept in separate cages in their former home, but were allowed to fly together outside their cages.
It was evident immediately that Fluffers and Sapphire were bonded, and that Fluffers would fight with the third cockatiel.
It was decided to separate the third and adopt him out separately.
Sapphire and Fluffers now share a cage, and seem quite happy to do so.
Sapphire is a beautiful albino cockatiel, thought to be female because of her limited vocalization. Because of her albinism, she is suspected of having vision issues. She is always more tentative and nervous moving around - you can sense her uncertainty of her surroundings, but she is seems less nervous around humans than Fluffers.
Fluffers is the ring leader of the two, and seems determined to defend his best friend. Neither are hand tame, but they are fine with people being very close to them.
They don't exhibit any cage aggression, and they will step up on a perch held up for them if millet is offered.
They also eat millet out of the foster family's hands. Because of this, their foster family suspects they will be able to be hand tamed quite easily with a bit of patience and time.
They are not afraid of chewing on blinds, drywall, or crown molding, however, so they should only be out of the cage supervised.
Their former diet was seed based, but they now happily eat a healthy pellet and chop diet, with seeds as a treat. They do enjoy shredding toys in their cage!
The pair have been disease tested for PBFD and Chlamydia.
They are being fostered in Cherry Hill, NJ. They will require an in-person visit before adoption. We do not ship our birds.

For the Love of Birds is a network of dedicated foster homes throughout NJ and Eastern PA.
As our adoptable birds are living in private volunteer homes, we only allow approved adopters to make the required visits.
If interested in adopting this group, please visit our website ftlob.rescuegroups.org
Please read our adoption policies and fees, and complete an adoption application
