Ricco's Story
Ricco is a sweet and trusting Congo African Grey who will wrap himself around your little finger if you let him! He's a little shy, but once he gets to know you, Ricco steps up easily-- when he wants to. He's clear with his body language. If he's not in the mood, he gently grasps your finger and pushes it away.

This friendly guy loves to chat! He makes robotic conversation sounds with himself. He says "Mama go bye-bye!" when his foster mom leaves the room. He says "Good night, Ricco!" at bedtime. He says "sit," and "no," which he picked up from watching his foster family's dog. He whistles, purrs, coos, trills, and hoots. Because he's such a chatter box, he would do best in a home without shared walls.

Ricco loves to shred toys, particularly paper. Other hobbies include dancing when you sing for him and hanging out on his play stand. Ricco is a fantastic eater! He is on a pelleted diet and enjoys apples, sweet potatoes, cashews, pistachios, and pasta as treats.

Ricco's flight feathers were clipped before he came to STAR, but the will to soar has not left him! His iconic red tail feathers are also missing-- we suspect from trying to fly, landing on them when he falls, and breaking them off. Ricco's ideal forever home will allow his flight (and tail) feathers to grow back in and will work with him to regain his strength to fly once more.

Ricco would thrive in a home that hums with gentle, predictable activity. He is comfortable with the steady bustle of daily life, but too much or too little action is not his cup of tea.

If you think your home would be the right fit for Ricco and want someone to fill the quiet with their silly sounds, Ricco would love to meet you!

Adoption fee: $600
