Norman's Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Hatch Date: 2005

Norman is a 20-year-old Umbrella Cockatoo. He is believed to be male, but has not been DNA sexed. He requires a lot of attention to be happy. He screams when he wants attention and doesn't get it. Typical cockatoo.

He is adventurous and full of energy. He likes singing, his toys and having his mom play with him. His favorite foods are birdseed nut balls, ravioli, string cheese, peas, green beans, apples, and birdseed with peanuts and dried fruit.

He doesn't like watching TV, listening to music (most of the time) or people visiting his home.

He gets along with the cats and dog in his current home. Of course, he is supervised when they are all in the same room. His mom was told by the bird store that Norman gets aggressive when placed next to another bird. However, in his home, he is fine being on his cage next to an Amazon in a separate cage, but in the same room.

As is true with many birds, he can be aggressive and lunge to bite when not happy. He was more attached to his mom's ex-husband, who was able to spend a lot of time working with him. Norman did not show aggression to him.

Norman has been disease-tested for chlamydia and PBFD.

Norman is participating in our Help with Rehoming program and is still with his family in Bloomfield, NJ.
