Noodle's Story

Noodle is a survivor of the pigeon racing industry, which is a tidy way of saying she was born into a job she never applied for. Racers are bred to be hauled hundreds of miles from home and released to find their way back. Plenty don't make it — they get lost, hit buildings, meet a hawk, or come in slow enough that someone decides they aren't worth keeping. Noodle got lost. What she found instead of her loft was one of our volunteers, a vet tech, who picked her up and gave her the first genuinely safe landing of her life.

She is a beautiful bird, with a spray of white flecking across her face and throat, like someone flicked a paintbrush at her. Her neck catches green and violet when she turns. One wing carries a dark checker pattern broken up with white, her beak is pale pink above a soft white cere, and her eyes are warm and wise.

Our volunteers describe her as especially sweet and gentle, and she genuinely likes people — not just tolerates, but loves people! She also has a plush pig she is devoted to. Pigeons often enjoy soft toys, and Noodle picked hers!

Here is the practical part: as a domestic bird, Noodle needs a loving home, with cozy spots for napping, plenty of toys, and someone who'll adore her. She has done her flying. She is ready to retire with her pig!
