Merlin's Story
Meet Merlin! Merlin is a 3-year-old blue Quaker who is a sweet and sociable little guy. When he first came to STAR, he was timid and a little shy. He's starting to come out of his shell in his foster home, though, and his personality is starting to shine through. He would rather ride around on your shoulder and "help" you with your tasks than entertain himself on a play stand.

Merlin is a fairly quiet bird, occasionally chirping or sharing his favorite phrases in a scratchy little voice: "Hello!," "Pretty boy!," and "I love you!" Because his sweet peeping and chatting are low in volume, Merlin wouldn't mind a forever home with shared walls. (And the neighbors wouldn't, either!)

Like most Quakers, Merlin likes to spend time in his cage, playing with his toys, enjoying his designated space, and watching the world outside his window. He's shown a preference for chewing on toys made of wood, paper, or straw, but he'll try anything once! He has started to greet his foster parent by coming right over when they approach his cage.

As he settles into his foster home, Merlin has proven to be pretty hand-averse. He does not like to step up on fingers, but is comfortable stepping up on a perch or being wrapped up in a towel-burrito if necessary. This may change with patience and time! Merlin is also flighted, and will take a few laps around the room if the mood strikes.

Merlin currently enjoys munching on a mix of pellets and seed, but he's learning portion control and hopefully seeds will be strictly treats in the near future.

If you think your home could be a good fit for Merlin to blossom in, he would love to meet you!

Adoption fee: $200
