Merlin 30 Year Old M Med Sulfur Crested Cockatoo's Story

It is Unlikely that we will respond to Anyone who clicks the Ask About Us or Start Your Inquiry button.
We have found that people who click these buttons generally have not read the information provided below about our adoptable birds. Our experience has shown that many are attempting to bypass our adoption process by taking shortcuts rather than following the required steps. These inquiries often do not follow our basic instructions and appear to be an attempt to simply purchase a bird.

We do not sell birds—we carefully match each parrot with qualified applicants to ensure the best possible lifelong home. Because of this, we do not consider inquiries submitted through the Ask About Us or Start Your Inquiry button to be serious adoption inquiries, and we no longer respond to them.
Please refrain from clicking the Start Your Inquiry button. We also do not respond to adoption inquiries submitted by email or phone.
We will only respond to inquiries submitted through our official adoption application.

The first step in our adoption process is to complete our adoption application. It's quick and simple! We appreciate your patience and promise to get back to you as soon as possible after we receive your completed application.

Merlin is a very energetic and loving boy who loves to cuddle with his female companion.

Unfortunately, we don't know much about Merlin because he was surrendered to us by a relative of his deceased owner. We do know that he is tame enough to be handled by the right female.

Although Merlin's adoption fee is only $450.00, we will not place him in a home that shares walls with neighboring residences, such as apartments, condominiums, duplexes, or townhomes. Cockatoos can be quite vocal, especially during the evening hours.

Merlin is a very special boy. He's semi-tame and prefers an experienced female adopter. He has had a rough couple of years but is truly a well-loved bird. He is seeking the companionship of a special lady who will give him all the TLC, affection, and attention he deserves.

Merlin has a healthy appetite and enjoys fresh fruits, vegetables, and treats. He also speaks quite a few words and loves bobbing up and down while dancing to songs with a good, strong rhythm. Although he will tolerate men, he clearly prefers the companionship of women and especially enjoys being cuddled by a lady.

Female applicants must have a minimum of one year of experience handling a large cockatoo. No exceptions. Because of Merlin's personality and preferences, we strongly believe he will thrive in a home with an experienced female companion.

We do not recommend placing Merlin in a home with children, as we have learned that he was never raised around them. While Merlin is comfortable around other birds, what he truly desires is the companionship of a devoted human.

Merlin's adoption fee of $450.00 includes his large cage and our generous care package.

To help us manage the adoption process smoothly, we kindly ask that you do not call or email with questions in advance. Instead, please begin by completing our adoption application.

Once we receive your completed application, we will review it and contact qualified applicants by email to schedule a phone interview, followed by a meet-and-greet.

It is crucial that you monitor your email and respond promptly when we contact you. Please refrain from calling us before or immediately after submitting your application—we promise to get back to you as soon as possible.
****
Our care packages include a custom new two-door parrot carrier, six weeks of Volkmann's Special Seed Mix, one 4 lb. bag of Volkmann's Fruit & Nut Goodies, four freshly packaged bags of Volkmann's treats, six assorted bags of Lafebers Nutri-Berries, two different refillable toys with refill packs, one shower perch (if needed), one Wi-Fi camera, one rechargeable misting bottle, one new Magic Bullet blender, three educational books on macaws, specialty parrot cookbooks (Go Raw and Parrots' Fine Cuisine), and much more.
Qualified adopters may also purchase, at our cost, their choice of a new Manzanita Playpen, a Manzanita Tabletop "T" Perch, or a Manzanita Tabletop Balance Beam Perch. We also offer qualified adopters the opportunity to purchase, at our cost, their choice of a Manzanita Floor "T" Perch or a Manzanita Floor Tree with our custom 2 ft. 2 ft. exotic wood base. You may choose from a solid Black Walnut, Glossy Hickory, or solid White Oak base.
