Liberty's Story
Liberty is a 22 year old severe macaw. Her family had some losses and just couldn't care for her anymore. She was probably eating too many seeds and so she gets cherry juice now to help protect her kidneys. She has also transitioned to a better diet (Harrison's pellets, fruits and vegetables, some nut treats) which always helps improve physical and mental health.

Her feathers are no longer clipped and so she can fly, another great health booster! She does like to check out food in other bird's cages though, maybe they have something to share?!?

Her feet have some quirks, one of the back toes on both feet face forward. But we all have quirks, right?

She reliably steps on a rope perch, a fantastic skill for all birds to have as part of their transport options.

IMPORTANT PROCESS INFORMATION: Before we can discuss a specific bird with you, we ask that you follow our adoption process. Some birds are in foster homes that may adopt them, many other birds are waiting for our help and are not yet posted in PetFinders. The adoption coordinator in your area will work with you to find the best home for each bird, and a species and personality that works best for your family too. We want to set everyone up for success, especially our parrots.

To get started, the adoption process includes completing our parrot match application and attending one of our core classes. You can find information about this process on our website at www.phoenixlanding.org/adopt
