Kiwi the quaker parrot was passed around through a few family members before being surrendered to the rescue to find his forever home. Unfortunately this story is common. Sometimes people want to rehome an animal to loved ones they trust rather than a stranger, but if the new owner doesnt really want the animal it just turns into another rehome shortly. Information gets lost down the line. Kiwis age is unknown but they do claim to know hes a boy. Despite the instability he is a pretty friendly bird to the people he agrees with! He will absolutely need time to settle into a new home before handling, there won't be any interaction possible for a "meet and greet" like some animals can have, but after a few of us spent 2 days earning his trust at the rescue our first volunteer was able to hold him. After days 3-5 he has now let several people in his foster family hold him! Male and female family members. However there are some people who he doesn't like. He did the "test bite" with most people and seems to be comfortable with the people who didn't react to his biting. <br/><br/>Kiwi loves coming out and sitting on the cage. He enjoys carrots, bell peppers, broccoli, and loves apple slices! Hes currently eating a seed blend and a proper pellet diet mixed together (weaning off the seeds). <br/><br/>Kiwi was surrendered in the small green cage that you see in the intake pictures. The family member who dropped him off said that he was previously living in a bigger cage, but we are unsure if that was current or a year ago when his last home-switch occurred. Hes using a larger cage in his foster home but permanent housing will be the responsibility of the adopter to provide. Your setup must be approved prior to adoption. He will come with the small cage for transport. Adoption fee is $250
