Kira

Kira is a very sweet Orange Winged Amazon. She was brought to us by Animal Control in June of 2022. She loves to be held and to ride on shoulders. We haven't noticed her talking yet, but she's still young, and her species is known to be excellent talkers. Orange Winged Amazon's can live upwards of 60-80years in captivity, so she has a very long life ahead. What we know about her, she seemed comfortable with the other pets. Kira has been through a lot. She will need someone with patience to earn her trust again. <br/>Kira is transitioning to a pellet diet and enjoys vegetables and fresh fruits, especially blueberries. <br/>Amazon's are not suitable for apartments. They can be loud sometimes. We would advise any potential adopter to do as much research as possible about Amazon's, they are wonderful, funny birds. However, they can become quite attached to their favorite person and may become possessive. Minimum cage for her is 24x36x48; as always, the bigger, the better. She would benefit from also having a play top area on her cage.
