Gracie

Gracie is a beautiful Sun Conure with a gentle soul who is looking for a patient family willing to help her continue building her confidence. She came to Rhode Island Parrot Rescue at the end of April as part of the large rescue effort in New Hampshire. Unfortunately, we don't know anything about her life before arriving in our care, but every day she gives us little glimpses of the wonderful bird she's becoming.<br/><br/>We believe Gracie is on the older side, and she's understandably shy and timid around new people, new environments, and unfamiliar objects. She's still learning that people can be trusted and is becoming more comfortable with hands and coming out of her cage. While she's not quite ready to show her full personality, we know it's in there, and we're excited to watch it continue to blossom.<br/>Although she's a quiet girl most of the time, Gracie does enjoy chatting every now and then, and it's clear she wants to be part of what's going on around her. She watches everything with curiosity and is slowly becoming more interested in interacting with the people caring for her.<br/><br/>There is one thing about Gracie that we learned almost immediately—she is a foodie! If she sees food coming, she gets so excited that she'll beg with all her might, and sometimes she can't even wait for the bowl to be filled before hopping right in! She'll happily run over the moment she realizes a meal is on its way, and watching her excitement never fails to make us smile.<br/><br/>Gracie is looking for someone who understands that trust takes time. She isn't the type of bird who will immediately step up and seek out attention, but with patience, kindness, and consistency, we believe she'll continue gaining confidence and showing more of her sweet personality.<br/><br/>If you're looking to give a deserving bird a fresh start and have the patience to let her move at her own pace, Gracie may be the perfect companion for you.
