Elote's Story
¡Hola! My name is Elote, and I’m named after the tastiest treat you can find on the streets of Mexico. ¡Que rico!

I used to be a wild child, hanging with my feral buddies on the streets, until one fateful day, I was trapped! My first experience with hands was not the kindest, I’ll admit. The person who caught me yanked out every single one of my primary feathers—the feathers I use to fly. Pobrecito, no? They didn’t want me to be able to fly, because they wanted to use me… to train hunting dogs!

It was terrifying. I’m not sure what happened to my friends that were trapped with me. But I made it out, and a kind lady whisked me away to GLPR.

I’ll admit that I was pretty scared of my rescuers at first. But I spent some time at the rescue, feasting on yummy seeds and fresh water… and I came around. As it turns out, the pet pigeon life is actually pretty cushy. If you decide to give me a forever home, I promise to be a good birb!
