Darcy and Elizabeth's Story
Meet Darcy and Elizabeth, a 3-year-old bonded pair of lorikeets who are officially ready to find their forever family!

These two have been together since they were babies, and we will absolutely not separate them. They are a package deal and need a home that understands and appreciates the unique needs of lorikeets.

They are goofy, rambunctious, fun, curious, and incredibly sweet in their own ways. Elizabeth is an absolute gentle baby who steps right up and is happy to interact with you.

Darcy, on the other hand, is a little more... spicy. He can display aggressive behavior, largely related to hormones and his instinct to protect his mate, Elizabeth. He needs an adopter who isn’t afraid of a bird with boundaries, understands bird body language, and is confident and experienced enough to work with him rather than be intimidated by him.

LORIKEET DIET IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT!

If you’re considering adopting these two, please do your research BEFORE applying. Lorikeets have specialized dietary needs and are very different from many other parrots.

Lorikeets primarily eat nectar, and their digestive systems are not designed to process a traditional seed-based parrot diet. Pellets are also not appropriate in most situations for lorikeets. Their diet should consist of an appropriate lorikeet nectar formula along with suitable low-iron fruits, such as bananas, apples, pears, and berries.

Their health also requires special consideration because lorikeets can be prone to iron storage disease, so proper nutrition and veterinary care are incredibly important.

And let’s talk about the other thing nobody can hide from you... LORIKEETS ARE MESSY.

Like... really messy.

Their liquid diet means their droppings are much wetter than those of many other parrots, and their cages need to be cleaned frequently. These are not birds for someone who wants a low-maintenance pet. They require commitment, specialized nutrition, regular cleaning, and an adopter who is willing to educate themselves about their care.

But if you’re prepared for the mess, the specialized diet, the personality, and all of the quirks that come with these amazing little birds, Darcy and Elizabeth can be incredibly rewarding companions.

Interested in adopting Darcy & Elizabeth?

Please complete our adoption application here:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeLsrp1MxZje3KVQSEbQDClBaRWIrIuM4FhXWi2_a8St9Gr7g/viewform?usp=dialog

Please research lorikeet care BEFORE applying. We want their next home to be their last home, and finding the right fit is far more important to us than simply finding them a home.

Located in Beech Creek PA.
No we do not ship.
