Coho's Story

Coho is a male Moluccan, a young 17 years old. Moluccans are amazing, but don't forget, loud! Male cockatoos require knowledge and understanding about their sometimes unpredictable behavior. So dedication to learning, training, and lots of enrichment is super duper important for Coho's next adopter.

Coho is pretty chatty, showing off his old timey radio voices regularly! He tends to be lower-key as compared to many Moluccans but that said he is still 100% male Moluccan. He is a good eater of a wide variety of fresh foods, especially golden beets, blackberries, Nutri-berries, and some nuts. He keeps himself super busy by playing and destroying block toys. He tears up anything we give him. A busy cockatoo is a happy cockatoo!

IMPORTANT PROCESS INFORMATION: Before we can discuss a specific bird with you, we ask that you follow our adoption process. Some birds are in foster homes that may adopt them, many other birds are waiting for our help and are not yet posted in PetFinders. The adoption coordinator in your area will work with you to find the best home for each bird, and a species and personality that works best for your family too. We want to set everyone up for success, especially our parrots.

To get started, the adoption process includes completing our parrot match application and attending one of our core classes. You can find information about this process on our website at www.phoenixlanding.org/adopt

ONLY AREAS OF OPERATION: Phoenix Landing serves only Maryland, Washington D.C., Virginia, North Carolina, and northeast Florida. We do not ship birds. However, everyone is welcome and encouraged to join us for our online events. Parrots are unique and they deserve us to be informed caretakers. There are also many past event recordings available which you may find helpful. All event information can be found at www.phoenixlanding.org/events

Thanks for helping parrots!

Phoenix Landing Foundation's Adoption Policy
Understanding the attributes of various parrot species is important. It is also essential to make sure that the personal connection between each individual parrot and the adopting family is just right. We want our families and birds to succeed for many years. The first step is to send an application, begin talking with us, and attend our educational seminars. Our goal is to help each parrot find stability and the best possible place to call home. We want to set you and a bird up for success, this is why in most cases we prefer to do a home visit. This usually happens after you join us for a class, and before a bird is placed.
