Chickpea's Story

Meet Chickpea, a senior survivor of the pigeon racing industry. Chickpea is appropriately named for their lovely light brown coloring. They also have a stunning white tail and a baby pink colored beak. Chickpea’s left foot also happens to be webbed, which is a rare generic trait for pigeons to inherit.

Chickpea is a very quiet and gentle companion. One of their favorite activities is sitting at the window and reminiscing. We’re sure Chickpea loves the freedom their wings provide now, navigating his foster home, but they also know sadly wings can come with a price for those forced into the pigeon racing industry. Birds are often discarded when they are no longer top achievers; usually when they become injured, ill, or lost. Chickpea is one such case. Now, they are ready to find a forever home where they will be loved and appreciated regardless of their performance as a racer. Everyone deserves a moment to sit back, relax, and take in all the pleasures and tender moments that life has to offer, and Chickpea awaits this in his forever home!
