Carnation's Story

Hi, my name is Carnation! Here is what would work best for me in my new home:
-Personality: Active, social, easy to handle
-Lifespan: 15 to 20 years
-Can Live With Kids: Yes, but an adult must be the primary caregiver
-Experienced Bird Home: Not required, but encouraged.
-Can Live With Other Birds: Yes, pigeons are naturally flock birds and do best with other pigeons around. A household with an established flock would be ideal for Carnation.
-Additional information:
Meet Carnation, an active pigeon who is looking for their forever home. They came to the shelter as a stray, so we don't know much about their background. However, they appear calm around people, so it is likely that Carnation is used to being a pet pigeon. Carnation came to the shelter with pink dye in their feathers, and was likely released as part of a "Gender Reveal" event. We have not observed any harmful effects from the dye at the shelter, but they will likely need to be monitored closely until the dye washes off or the affected feathers molt off. If you think Carnation is the pigeon for you, adopt today!

If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website (www.whatcomhumane.org/adopt) or in person at our facility. We recommend calling into the shelter after your application has been submitted so our front desk can give you next steps on our adoption process.
