Annie's Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Hatch Date: 1999

Annie is a Lilac-Crowned Amazon, she has been DNA sexed female. She has lived with the same guardian most of her life, but her very doting mother recently passed away, which is how she ended up with our rescue.

Annie is used to living in the same room as other birds, so we'd ideally adopt her to a home with other birds, unless her adopter has a tremendous amount of time to spend with her. She does make noises back and forth with the other birds in her foster home and is not aggressive toward them when they are out of the cage at the same time.

Annie is a bit shy, but enjoys sharing food and spending time with the family. She is a great alarm system, as she very loudly signals when anyone in the family gets home or walks into the room with her until she figures out who it is. She is not suited for apartment or condo dwelling. She mimics a lot of noises, most comically, laughter.

Annie is on a healthy diet of pellets and chop, but has a soft spot for pasta. Her treat food is almonds, and while her foster family is working with her on touch/target training, she is still afraid of the dowel. She steps up, but it's on her terms, and gives very clear signals if she doesn't want to be handled.

Annie enjoys taking showers from a spray bottle.

Annie has been disease tested for PBFD and Chlamydia.

Annie is being fostered in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, and will require 3 in-person visits before adoption. She would make a great addition to the right home.

We do not ship our birds. For the Love of Birds is a network of dedicated foster homes throughout NJ and Eastern PA. As our adoptable birds are living in private volunteer homes, we only allow approved adopters to make the required visits. If interested in adopting Annie, please visit our website ftlob.rescuegroups.org. Please read our adoption policies and fees and complete an adoption application.
