Willow & Lumin BONDED's Story

Willow & Lumin are a bonded pair of approximately 7-8 year old female chinchillas. They were born in 2018. They came to us as their owner felt she could not provide them with the care they needed.

Willow is the protector, and Lumin is more nervous. If Lumin gets upset she will run to Willow, or Willow will come up and bark at you. They have quickly learned that they get a treat every night and will not let you forget to give it to them! They do allow some petting/scritches, but will bark or jump away when they are done. They do not like to be picked up or handled, and Willow may spray you if you do so.

That said, they are not aggressive girls and we have had no issues with cage maintenance. They will sit in their hammocks while we clean the enclosure, and once we are done we give them a treat and they hop out of the hammocks to explore the fresh setup!

Lumin has a rough coat that sometimes gets mats. She does not like being handled for de-matting and is likely to hold a grudge for a few days afterwards, but treats will help thaw her attitude towards you.

These girls are opinionated ladies, but we just love them and as long as you respect their boundaries, you'll fall in love too! They are clear communicators when they don't like something, so you will learn what they are and aren't okay with pretty quickly.

We are continuing to work on their handling skills but would recommend them for a patient home that is okay with not being able to handle them much. Chinchilla experience is a plus but not required as long as you are willing to learn!

We can meet for adoptions within 1 hour of Minneapolis or Faribault, MN. Potentially further- please inquire and we can discuss!

APPLY HERE: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf-XKeCEMgJ9aEA0CR1Pv9NGcoNcMkY0dw2m3DehyChe4ToVA/viewform?usp=header

Tiny Whiskers Animal Rescue's Adoption Policy
The first step is to fill out an adoption application. This includes questions about their proposed enclosure for the animal, food, enrichment, and whether they have an exotic vet or not. We review the response and contact them with any questions we have. Once all questions have been answered and approved, we move on to the second step. This involves submitting multiple photos of their enclosure, fully set up for their animal. We inspect the photos and address any concerns we see. Once we can ascertain that the enclosure meets our requirements, we give final approval for adoption. A meet up is arranged for the person to take home their new pet. At the meet up, we have a contact that must be signed by the person (or legal adult) agreeing to take proper care of the animal, not to breed it, and that they will contact us if the animal becomes sick within the first week, or if they are unable to care for the animal any longer.
