Meet Trouble

We have a young adult male guinea pig looking for his forever home. His name is Trouble! Trouble came into our rescue when a breeder was trying to downsize, and wanted some help finding some of her guinea pigs homes. We were told that Trouble was born about January 2019, which makes him just now having turned 1 year old! Great time to take him home.

Trouble was brought in with another guinea pig (Seymour), though unfortunately the two did not get along. We don’t know if it was simply these two piggies that didn’t get along, or if they don’t like other piggies in general… but we would advise caution if you’re looking at either of these piggies, as a buddy for your piggy, as in the past, it hasn’t worked out.

Trouble is a tortoiseshell Abyssinian male guinea pig. He is red/orange and black in color, sort of like a Halloween guinea pig! His body is covered in those cute little rosettes (swirls) which make up the Abyssinian coat type.

Trouble is a sweet guinea pig… though he can be trouble. When he doesn’t want to be picked up, he can really make it difficult for you! Really, though, he is actually very sweet, and once you catch him, he is very nice and does great with being handled and petted. He will chill with you, no problem. He enjoys hiding in his igloo (don’t they all?), though he has become more outgoing in the time he’s been here! His favorite snacks are anything he can get his mouth on! He loves his hay, veggies, and leafy greens. He’s definitely come around in the time we’ve had him, so we’re sure that the more time you spend with him, the more he will continue to come out of his shell and be super sweet with you as well. He’s super sweet and does well with being handled and petted. He will sit nicely in your arms when you’re petting him. He does well with having his nails trimmed. He has never bitten.

This guinea pig will come with some food to start you out with (2 pounds of guinea pig pellets) and a printed out version of our guinea pig care packet. We also have additional supplies for sale, such as cages, food, food bowls, water bottles, hidey houses, and more.

Do you need a cage? We have multiple cages for sale, everything from smaller guinea pig cages to larger ones. You can buy a cage similar to what he is living in for $25. We also have this type of cage (used) -- https://www.petsmart.com/small-pet/cages-habitats-and-hutches/cages/midwest-guinea-pig-habitat-plus-5171984.html -- for $30. If you are looking for a cage, please check with us, we often have a variety of cages available (even other than what’s mentioned above).

Regardless of past guinea pig experience, all potential homes will be asked to read our guinea pig care packet and fill out our adoption application/guinea pig questionnaire. If you are unwilling to do this, please do not waste our time or yours. No guinea pig will go to a new home without an adoption application being filled out - no exceptions.

Trouble is located in Hammond, Indiana (46324). Sorry, but we do not ship.

The adoption fee for Trouble is $25
