Meet Thomas! This sweet and gentle Syrian hamster was surrendered to our rescue after his owner lost their home. Thomas was well loved, but unfortunately did not have the best housing accommodations prior to arriving at Small n Furry Rescue. Many large chain pet stores sell these cages and market them for hamsters, although they are essentially placing these poor guys into the equivalent of a small jail cell. These cages do not provide appropriate space or enrichment for these hamsters. Many of the accessories that are included with these enclosures are a hazard and Syrian hamsters have been known to get stuck in their plastic tubing and suffer other injuries. Fortunately Thomas has received quite the upgrade while he is with us at the rescue! He is loving all the space in his new hamster penthouse. <br/><br/>Thomas is a very gentle hamster, but will give you a little nibble if you smell like food! For this reason we are looking for a home for him without young children. Thomas is also considered a middle age/senior hamster, so may require a little extra TLC as he gets older. He loves to be brushed and his favorite pastime is to make elaborate nests for a good long nap. <br/><br/>Please contact us if you think your family would be a perfect retirement home for sweet Thomas!
