Skunky's Story

Skunky has a very mellow and sweet disposition becoming most excited over veggie time and loves receiving fresh hay and pellets as well. Formerly known as Bakari, a name that just never stuck here in the rescue, he has adjusted into life here with excellence and recently had a vet visit which cleared him for adoption. Like all guinea pigs, he would rather not be picked up but once held he has learned to sit quietly for his health check and nail trim and although he used to be shy when strangers visited and would not take treats from them, lately he has overcome that shyness which is a great step forward for him. Home Sweet Hammy Home's Adoption Policy

Our adoption process begins with a phone or email conversation where we discuss previous pet experience and current hopes for potentially bringing a new little one home. Next, care education using documents, videos and credible websites to teach adopters how to provide a happy life for their new friend are sent. Once this is completed, we review and answer questions in a 2nd phone conversation and then an adoption application is emailed. Upon its return we begin verifying cage requirements are met. We also make these requirements available for purchase. We then set an adoption date and tour of the rescue.

Our mission is to help as many small pets as we have room and supplies for, set them up in habitats they can thrive in and adopt them out to loving families who are provided with credible care resources.
