Pockets and Buttons's Story

Pockets and Buttons – A Brave and Bouncy Bonded Pair!

Say hello to Pockets and Buttons, two male guinea pigs with hearts full of hope and a story of resilience. Rescued from terrible hoarding situations, these little survivors have found comfort and healing thanks to the exceptional foster care of GuineaDad team members.

Baby Buttons is a bundle of energy—don't let his sweet name fool you! Born on April 17, 2025 he’s often found zooming around his cage, doing joyful laps and popcorning with glee. His playful spirit is contagious and a sure sign that he’s embracing the safety and happiness of his new foster life.

Pockets, his loyal companion, is a bit more chill, preferring to explore at his own pace and check in on his buddy between snack breaks. We estimate Pockets to be 1.5 years old as of May 2025.

Together, these boys balance each other perfectly—one bold and bouncy, the other calm and curious. Their bond is strong, and they must be adopted by someone who can offer them a patient, loving forever home.

If you are interested in adopting this fun pair, click on the “Start your Inquiry” button to fill out an Adoption Inquiry Form or visit our website to fill out an adoption application https://www.socalguineapigrescue.org/

To be considered for adoption you must provide a minimum size 2 x 4 grid c&c cage (28" x 56"). Southern California Guinea Pig Rescue's Adoption Policy
Adopters must fill out an application (available online) and submit a photo or receipt of their cage so we can verify our minimum space requirements are met. After approval, arrangements are made for the adopter to meet the guinea pigs with an experienced volunteer to facilitate the introductions and answer any questions. If trying to pair a single guinea pig with a current pig, the application process is the same but the meeting process is a bit lengthier. The adopter can meet with several single guinea pigs to see which one may be a harmonious match. Initial introductions can last a couple hours and the adopter will go home and reintroduce the guinea pigs and monitor for signs of aggression. If the bond fails, the adopter must separate the guinea pigs and we will make arrangements to take the guinea pig back. Then we repeat until we find a good match.
