Peter Cottontail's Story
Our adoption process can be found on our website here: www.mnpocketpetrescue.org/process
________________________________________________________________________________
Note from Peter's Foster: "Peter loves to say hi to his fosters! He can often be found at the front of his cage trying to see what we are doing. He enjoys when we talk to him and sit with him by his cage."

Estimated birth date: 04/01/2025

Personality: Curious, Hesitant, Lazy, Mouthy (puts mouth on you but does not bite down, usually thinking your fingers are food), Nervous, Quiet, Very shy (you are unable to touch this animal without it running away or being fearful, etc)

Favorite treats: Peter likes all of the treats we give him!

Current Diet: Oxbow Essentials Adult Rat Food

Favorite toys and activities: Peter loves pulling things apart and redecorating to his liking

Potty trained: Litter box trained

This animals daily routine: Peter is most active in the evening and at night.

BFF (Does this animal have or need a friend of the same species in their home?): Peter can be adopted as a solo rat due to being uncomfortable with other male rats.

Other species this pet has been exposed to and reaction: He has met cats through the cage bars and is indifferent. He is indifferent yo dog barking.

Has this animal been exposed to children? What was their reaction? Peter should not interact with children due to his biting history.

Health concerns: None

Behavioral concerns: Peter Cottontail is in our trust training program for shyness. Peter is very resistant to being picked up. You cannot pick him up by hand, and it is difficult to coax him into a box to use the transport box method. We have been working on getting him used to people by talking to him frequently and spending time with him. He enjoys coming to the front of the cage to say hi and see what we are up to! Peter has a history of biting, but has gotten a lot better in the last few months. He has not bit anyone for several months now.

Other notes: Peter is still getting used to his new foster home. We are taking it slow by showering him with treats and attention through the cage doors. Hes not quite sure if he wants to receive pets or not. If he is annoyed or scared, he will sometimes nip.

Transferred from TWAR

Due to our rescue being foster-based, not all foster homes are located in Saint Paul, MN. This animal's foster parent prefers to meet at the Petsmart - 1640 New Brighton Blvd, Minneapolis, MN 55413 for meet & greets, & adoptions.

Fee: Peter & Marshmallow will have a combined adoption fee of $35

We absolutely DO NOT SHIP ANIMALS! Please do not ask.

Peter's care while in rescue has not yet been sponsored. If you would like to donate to provide veterinary care, food, bedding, and enrichment for Peter or other pocket pets in the care of MNPPR, please visit https://www.mnpocketpetrescue.org/sponsor-a-pocket-pet for more information.
