Pandora & Persephone's Story

Meet Pandora and Persephone, two rattie gals who are looking for their forever home. These two are learning to live up to their mythic energy and we’re working with them to be braver day by day. A bit timid and nervous, the girls are very cautious but once they realize you’re a friend, their curiosity blooms.

Persephone, the beautiful grey rattle girl, is the braver of the two—always the first to peek out of their cozy hideaway to see what’s happening.

Pandora, the gorgeous white rattle, isn’t far behind, watching closely and gathering her courage before following her Persephone's lead. They want attention, you can tell—they’re just still learning how to trust the mortal world.

Pandora's anxiety is such that we are requiring the girls' adopters to have previous experience with rats, preferably experience with fearful rats. Pandora will bite if she is overwhelmed, even when the humans interacting with her mean her no harm. Because Pandora will communicate with her teeth (she hasn't mastered speaking or texting just yet), we will not place her in a home with children.

Once they settle in, these two love nothing more than burrowing in their fleece blankets like tiny underworld queens, snuggling together in the cutest sisterly heap, and exploring their surroundings when they feel safe enough.

Pandora and Persephone will thrive in a home with patience and lots of love as they learn to bloom into the affectionate, adventurous girls they’re meant to be.

If you’re ready to welcome two shy goddesses-in-training—and give them the steady, caring home they deserve—Pandora and Persephone are waiting to meet you.

If you would be interested in adopting rats from Luna's House, please take a moment to fill out an online application at the following link: https://lunashouse.org/php_email_form/formphp.html

Once we have received and approved your completed application, we can schedule a time for your family to come meet with ratties. You will be coming to our Animal Care and Education Center, located at 2801 Pulaski Highway in Edgewood, MD. The adoption fee for a single rat is $25 and for a pair of rats through Luna's House is $40. This is a donation meant to help cover part of the cost of caring for the animals you are adopting while they are with us, including spay or neuter surgery, veterinary exam, fecal check, food, bedding, etc.
