Meet Oreo

Meet Oreo (formerly Rose)! They came into the shelter after their owner had too many animals. She spent some time in foster care to make sure she wasn't pregnant and to get some TLC. Guinea pigs are social creatures and should live in same sex pairs or more for them to live happy, healthy lives. Oreo has not had a chance to meet cats or dogs in previous home. Her foster said she has a unique squeal when she thinks you've forgotten her veggie snacks! She likes doing zoomies for no reason besides she's a happy girl. She loves being pet and getting nose and chin scritches. Once she's comfortable with you she will get chatty when she hears you in the kitchen, because she wants you to prepare her snacks! This little character loves vitamin C cookies, carrots, spring mix, cilantro, watermelon, arugula, romaine, and mustard greens. She is not a huge fan of bell peppers or fruit. She is used to being handled and spending supervised time outside their cage. In her foster home she did great with children and was tolerant of handling- but will take advantage of escape opportunities, so she should be monitored. Pigs are very vocal creatures and love to squeal, chirp, squeak, and whistle- and Oreo knows it! A properly sized cage for two guinea pigs is a minimum 8 sq ft of floor space. A small hidey house inside the cage is required so the guinea pig has a private place to snooze. Guinea pigs require unlimited amounts of fresh Timothy Hay every day. Guinea pigs are unable to produce their own Vitamin C and therefore require supplements or Vitamin C fortified pellets on a daily basis. Her foster family said the ideal home would "give her love and veggies". Come meet this sweet little cookie today! Donations and adoption fees help cover the cost of spay/neuter surgeries, micro-chipping, vaccinating, de-worming, any medical procedures and general care ~~DEPOSITS MAY BE PLACED ON ADOPTABLE ANIMALS by calling 320-252-0896
